In this passage, Janahb' Ajaw accedes as a K'an Tok lord. His investiture is overseen by the Palenque ruler whose name begins with the number three and the axe-over-earth sign. (Some have read this "Ox Chak'ab'an", but David Stuart points out that we don't really know how to read the axe-over-earth glyph.) This is part of the youth name of K'inich K'an Joy Chitam II, whose rulership name would have followed in the inscription but has broken off. The K'an Tok official, Janahb' Ajaw, is identified as being a grandson of Pacal the Great (K'inich Janahb' Pakal).
