The stucco glyphs of Temple XVIII were originally mounted on the back wall of the temple's inner sanctuary. Most had fallen away by the time that Blom and La Farge recorded a few still adhering to the wall in the 1920s. Thus the original reading order is unknown. The glyphs were catalogued by Linda Schele and Peter Mathews in The Bodega of Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico (Schele and Mathews 1979). The drawings presented here, courtesy of David Schele and Peter Mathews, appeared in that volume. The photographs are by Mark Van Stone. The numbers refer to the catalog.
