It can be demonstrated that K'inich Ahkal Mo' Nahb' was a grandson of Pacal because another known grandson of that ruler, Janahb' Ajaw, is depicted on the Temple XIX hieroglyphic platform in attendance upon K'inich Ahkal Mo' Nahb III at his coronation.
