Martin observed that this block could be fit together with another, which was a name or a title previously unknown at Palenque, U Pakal K'inich, "Shield of the Sun God".

The "Shield of the Sun God" reading refers to the right half of the top glyph block; the bird-eating-fish glyph on the left has not been deciphered. The possessive pronoun u indicates that the shield is possessed by the Sun God. Ch'ok refers particularly to a young person of royal blood. When preceded by ba ("first" or "head") it means "prince" or "heir to the throne". (Drawing: Cristin Cash.)
