Name glyphs of Palenque ruler K'inich Ahkal Mo' Nahb' III, from the limestone tablet in Temple XIX. The top two elements on the left are read as the logograph K'INICH. Beneath them is a turtle shell, AHK', while the two upside-down faces below are phonetic -la. Together that makes K'inich Ahkal. The macaw head on the right of the glyph block is MO', and the waterlilly blossom atop its head is NAHB', hence Mo' Nahb'. The second glyph block is the Palenque emblem glyph in its rabbit skull variant, read "Holy Palenque Lord". (Photo: Alfonso Morales.)
