Xiuhtecuhtli ("Lord of Fire") was one of several appellatives of the Sun. Here we have him as the young and powerful Lord of Fire, wearing a sun-ray cloak, one of his identifying attributes. The surviving shell and obsidian inlays that complete his eyes and teeth give him a very lively appearance.
