In a very unusual composition, Stela 16 displays five separate registers: the first and fifth are quite narrow and seem to have held small motifs, making them good candidates, respectively, for a skyband and an earthband. The middle three registers (stacked one on top of the other, as the scenes in a codex) show different scenes of human characters interacting. Unfortunately, the monument's erosion makes it impossible to make out any details.
