Fresco of the Jester God in the Temple XX tomb. A personification of the ruler's headband, this deity is also called Hunal  "headband" and Sak Hunal  "white headband". The "Jester God" name comes from the distinctive hat in which he appears in many Palenque contexts. The "hat" may derive ultimately from an Olmec symbol for maize or the World Tree, since that is the probable derivation of the headband god himself.
