Linda Schele was one of the leading Mayanists of her generation and the dominant personality in the field of Maya studies. Her death last year deprived the world of an author (and co-author) of groundbreaking works of incisive scholarship, bringing the world of the Maya to the widest public. An artist and teacher by profession, and not a trained academic, Linda saw herself as nudging the field along from the periphery rather than the scholarly center. In this exclusive clip from the 50-minute video, Linda defines what it means to be an "Edgewalker".
The "Edgewalker" video was made as a labor of love for Linda. A significant portion of the gross proceeds from sales goes toward the chair which Linda and her husband David endowed at the University of Texas at Austin.
